Nigeria (english)

Nigeria (Federal Republic of Nigeria) is a federal state in West Africa, bordering Benin, Niger, Chad and Cameroon. It is by far the most populated country in Africa and after years of military dictatorship it’s trying to achieve its democratization and economic development.

While this process has consolidated, since 2010 the violence of the Islamic terrorist group Boko Haram destabilizes the mostly Muslim north of Nigeria. The group commits attacks on security forces, local adversaries and the Christian population. According to the government, more than 13,000 people fell victim to the conflict. One million people are fleeing the fighting, while the violence is also spreading to the northern neighbors. Africas’s oil-richest country is also highly corrupt.
